Legacy player Predators celebrate Filip Forsbergs eight-year $68 million contract by pu

Forward Filip Forsberg is back with the Nashville Predators after signing a massive 8-year deal on Monday. The Predators get innovative with their social media logo by putting a mustache on it. They sure did emphasize the ‘lip’ of his first name. The team changed their display name to the “NashFil” Predators.

The Predators changed their original Twitter image with a Forsberg-style mustache after Forsberg penned down the $68 million deal. Undoubtedly, Forsberg has one of the League’s great ‘staches which, at one point, included some sick handlebars. Fans are loving the creative art as much as celebrating the forward’s contract with his team.

Filip Forsberg expected to be legacy player for the Predators

After months of negotiations and heartbeats, the Nashville Predators and forward Filip Forsberg reached a deal that both parties can be satisfied with. He could have fallen into the unrestricted free agent zone on Wednesday but thankfully he avoided that with the huge signup on Monday. He has a career-high of 42 goals, 42 assists, and 84 points. Over 10 seasons he has achieved 469 points with 220 goals and 249 assists in 566 NHL games, as noted on nhl.com.

He has led the Predators on several occasions and stands fourth in points. Predators general manager David Poile said, “I talked to him a little bit about legacy, and I think legacy is about what you do on the ice, what you do off the ice”. “I think he has certainly already done a lot of that in both those areas. But with these next eight years, he should certainly be what I call a legacy player with our franchise, similar to what Pekka Rinne did here and off the ice, and we all see now what Roman Josi is doing both on and off the ice.”

Forsberg admitted that he liked the direction the Predators are headed, and it played a huge role in his re-signing with the team. He further continued, “I just want to try to bring my heart and soul to the game every day”. “I think that’s something I’ve gotten better and stronger and improved for the most part every year that I’ve played for this team. And I’m looking to continue that.”

Filip Forsberg noted, “I think this team is trending definitely in the right direction, and that was a huge part for me”. “Bringing Ryan McDonagh on board was a player that clearly has done exactly what we’re trying to do on this team and been a key part of it. That’s something we can definitely build on and it will be very exciting to have him alongside us this year.” Ryan was acquired in a trade with Lightning on 3rd July 2022.

Poile later accepted that the team had no plans other than focusing on re-signing the 27-year-old forward. On Monday he stated, “We never had another plan,” Poile said with a laugh. “Our plan A, B, C, and D was from the beginning this offseason to sign him … We never varied from wanting him here, and you never varied from wanting to be here. So congrats to you, ‘Fil,’ and I look forward to working with you for the next eight years. Let’s see if we can accomplish something really good together.”
