Raising Cane's (and its famous chicken fingers) planning to expand in Boise

There's a Facebook fan page dedicated to bringing a Raising Cane's restaurant to the Boise area.

It hasn't been active or had any kind of update in about a year and a half. Well, that's about to change.

CBS2 has learned the widely popular chicken finger restaurant has plans to expand to the Boise market in about two years.

"We are excited to share that we do have plans to open Raising Cane's in Boise," a spokesperson told CBS2 on Thursday. "We are currently actively looking for sites around Boise, and once we find the right spot, we will be able to bring our One Love to Boise!"

The restaurant says it's targeting a 2024 opening for the chain's first location in Idaho. The nearest locations, according to the restaurant's location map, are in the Portland and Salt Lake City markets.

"It (Boise) is a very exciting market for us, we know there is lots of enthusiasm there for the brand and our chicken fingers meals, and we are hopeful to find the right location and move forward with opening ASAP."

If you're unfamiliar with Raising Cane's Chicken Fingers, the menu is pretty straightforward: chicken fingers (along with a sandwich), crinkle-cut fries, coleslaw, Texas toast and its popular dipping sauce. Its first location opened in Baton Rouge, La. in 1996.

There are currently about 620 restaurants across the United States and overseas and the company has about 50,000 employees.
